Expert Care with a Personal Touch

Erika Koch-Weser is a recognized specialist in narcissistic and antagonistic personality dynamics and high-conflict relationships. She provides somatic and attachment-focused care for individuals navigating emotionally volatile relationships, trauma bonds, and chronic relational stress.

Erika offers a therapeutic space defined by emotional attunement, psychological safety, and relational depth. At Two Lights Therapy Center, complexity is welcomed rather than avoided. Clients are encouraged to engage honestly and thoughtfully with their internal experiences, without fear of judgment or minimization.

Many clients come to Erika after feeling stuck or misunderstood in prior therapeutic experiences, particularly in the context of complex relational dynamics. Her work is guided by the understanding that many patterns labeled as “pathology” reflect adaptive nervous system responses to attachment disruption and are best met with curiosity rather than judgment. This orientation creates the conditions for clarity and change without urgency, oversimplification, or blame.

Whether working with individuals recovering from narcissistic abuse, couples navigating high-conflict dynamics, or clients with narcissistic or antagonistic personality styles, Erika meets clients with steadiness, compassion, and respect for the pace at which real change occurs. Goals and growth are approached with intention, respecting the nervous system’s true capacity and prioritizing long-term integration.

Erika completed her undergraduate and graduate training at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her work is further shaped by advanced, ongoing training in her specialization. This commitment to continued education allows her clinical work to remain current, nuanced, and responsive to the complexity of the cases she treats.

Explore What Erika Prioritizes

AUTHENTICITY

"It can be difficult (& scary) to show up authentically when first starting therapy. That said, I want every one of my clients to know they can be their truest selves without fear of judgment in this space. That may take a while (& that's okay), but I'm always ready to really meet you."

CLINICAL EXCELLENCE

"All clients deserve consistent, high-quality mental health services. I prioritize depth over quick fixes and work hard to incorporate the most up-to-date interventions whenever possible. If my services don't feel like the right fit for you, we will work together to find you a great match."

INCLUSIVITY

"This is a space for diverse identities, experiences, and worldviews. I approach each client's treatment with humility & curiosity. I work with and welcome clients from all backgrounds, and I am deeply committed to providing culturally sensitive and inclusive care."

RELATIONAL SAFETY

"There is nothing more important than a therapeutic environment that feels safe, consistent, and attuned. If you’ve experienced narcissistic abuse, you may struggle with trust. I prioritize creating a space where you shouldn't have to second-guess yourself—a space where your reality is never denied, your boundaries are respected, and your story feels heard/understood."

HONESTY & HUMOR

"I bring warmth, honesty, and a sense of humor into our work, making it clear you can be your full, unfiltered self. Laughter can sometimes be just as healing as deep reflection, and I believe we can often balance both while respecting & honoring the seriousness of what you're navigating."

ALL ARE WELCOME HERE

"In my work, I’ve intentionally moved away from models that stigmatize Cluster B personality disorders. At the same time, I continue to stand as an ally for all survivors of abuse, including those deeply affected by the transgenerational transmission of trauma. Oftentimes, these trauma-related attachment challenges manifest as certain Cluster B tendencies.

We can end this cycle with connection, acceptance, and hard work. True understanding exists beyond black-and-white thinking. Almost everything is an intricate spectrum. Honoring the complexity of human experience means holding space for both accountability and compassion."
